For a full reading, read Judges 4. Judges 4:4 says, Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading [judging] Israel at that time. The back story is that Deborah the prophet tells them to go to war. The two main verses used today is Judges 4:8-9,
Barak said to her (Deborah), “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
“Certainly I will go with you,” said Deborah. “But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.”
Following a previous video Abel Amongst Them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOb75k5qjco), where Jesus listed Abel among the prophets. Even though we know little about him, little is known about Deborah and other female prophets (we’ll discuss them more in this series on woman and church roles). Let us consider how we can all be used for the Kingdom of God even if it is not popular. It wasn’t popular for a woman to lead the army, so Deborah shares as much.
This series alone should be well considered. Whether in a personal time of reflection and devotion, or used to reach others with the hope we have in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
