The Lamb and the Lion Ministries posted an article entitled, “DOES GOD STILL SPEAK THROUGH SIGNS OF NATURE?” The article addresses the increasing number of natural and man-made catastrophes plaguing the world today. It includes statistics to prove the frequency of calamities is indeed escalating. It even makes reference to the ‘global climate change’ movement; formally the ‘global warming hoax’, that seems to be a mainstay of one particular political party.

It will be well worth your time to read the article, but the short of it plainly indicates that God continues to call us to repentance through the events that are happening. The Wuhan virus, also known as COVID-19, has given a clear indication of how an untoward event in a foreign nation can affect the entire world economy and put a tremendous upon certain portions of the U.S. health care system. It also demonstrates how the offending nation can take advantage of the event to make tremendous profits by hoarding and profiteering on the health care equipment required by the countries in need.

Many citizens are determined to survive by hoarding and thus denying others simple household goods and participating in melees in order to acquire these commodities. Panic and selfishness are the order of the day.

COVID-19 Is Only One Calamity

COVID-19 is only one calamity, what about the floods, tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes? Jesus said that the signs in the end times would be like “birth pangs” (Matthew 24:8), meaning they will increase in frequency and intensity. And that is what has been happening. Each day brings us closer to the return of Jesus Christ, but first, the Rapture must occur. Those saved by faith in Jesus Christ around the world will disappear in “twinkling of an eye.”

If the world repents and worships God, will that postpone the Apocalypse? God postponed the destruction of Nineveh when the inhabitants of the city listened to Jonah and repented of their sins. However, it is certain that God has His time-table in mind and it will occur when He decides.

It seems to be a consistent theme that communities that suffer a devastating event are able to forget just how horribly they ached afterward and return to their former way of life. It is apparent in cities and towns that survive hurricanes or earthquakes because home sales return to normal within a year or two.

Don’t live in the pain of suffering, but you shouldn’t forget the event either. Use the memory to encourage your dependence upon God for strength and direction.
