There’s this little movie series. Maybe you’ve heard of. It’s called Star Wars.
Oh, so you have heard of it. Colour me surprised 🙂
(Note: If you haven’t seen Star Wars, there will be spoiler details)
Basically, we have three generation of Star Wars fans:
- The first generation was when the movie came out in 1970-80s. The story followed Luke, Leah, Han Solo and Chewbacca who go fight Darth Vador and the emperor.
Darth Vador cuts of Luke’s hand and says, “Luke, I am your father.” Despite his dad cutting his hand off, Luke comes back in the third movie to bring his father out from the dark side and into the light. - The next generation was the back story of Darth Vador in movies that came out in 1990s-00. You learn about Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vador) as a child, Obi-wan Kenobi (Ben), Padme, and the Jedi Counsel.
- Then there is this new generation who, for some reason, continued the story. Basically, in the first trilogy, Luke redeems his father and brings balance to the force. The second trilogy done, tells the story of why Darth Vador joined the dark side.
But now we have a third trilogy that made no sense to me. I have no idea what the story line in it was or its purpose. But, we see Han Solo, Leia and Luke Skywalker again.
Why Am I Writing About This?
I’m sharing this because, in the movie, the galaxy is operated by this mystical “force”. The way to say “Best Wishes” would be to say, “May the Force be with you.” Somewhere along the way, someone said, “May the Fourth be with you.” And here we are, celebrating Star Wars on May 4th (albeit, I’m writing this the day after).
As I said, you watch the original series and you find out that Darth Vador is Anakin Skywalker. Then you watch these prequel movies and watch Anakin Skywalker become Darth Vador. And I know this might sound super dramatic, but it made me sad.
I remember when Return of the Sith came out in theatres. It’s the final nail in the coffin when good little Anakin from Tantooine becomes Darth Vador.
I went with a friend to see this movie. Afterwards, he asked me what I thought. I kept on thinking, “Anakin, don’t join the Dark Side. Don’t join the dark side.”
My friend asked, “Well, you know why this happened, right?” Of which I did, but I didn’t like the outcome.
Do You Want To Know The Outcome?
Would you want to know the outcome? If you knew the exact day you would die, would you want to know? If you knew the exact day you would meet your spouse, would you want to know?
The end of Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “… No one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
If God knew the beginning from the end, if He knew the inner wickedness of the human heart, why did he create us?
There’s a lot of disagreement on whether humans have free will or if we are predestined by God to seek Him.
Please note, that as we come to the end of this blog, I have no idea what I’m doing. I watched Star Wars yesterday, the story of Anakin Skywalker. I’ll probably watch the original three today.
But, I’m wondering, if God knew the wickedness inside of me, why did He create me in the first place? If He knew the wicked things I’ve done, the wicked things I will do, how can He even tolerate my prayers?
Closing thought: Oh, how God loves me that He sent his Son to die for me. God loves you too and he is ready, willing and able to bring you out of the depths of your sins.
God bless you.
