Author Michael Furlonger of ChristianWritersBookstore (https://christianwritersbookstore.com/michael-furlonger/) discussing Apostle Paul’s teaching to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
In (Second) 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, it reads,
Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
Apostle Paul shares in Philippians 2 and 2 Timothy 4 about his life being poured out as a drink offering. In 2 Timothy 4:6-7 reads,
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Although Apostle Paul wasn’t a prophet, Michael wanted to focus on the heart. One of the big things, as always, is to dismiss the common prosperity- health, wealth, and happiness- teaching. And a common belief that depression- or any illness- is a sin. Apostle Paul didn’t call all of the faith healers to come heal him, he explained that his end was coming, and that to be present with the Lord is a good thing.
Let us all run the race as Paul did.
This series alone should be well considered. Whether in a personal time of reflection and devotion, or used to reach others with the hope we have in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
