We often passed by each other going opposite ways
Sometimes nodding “hello” or feigning a smile
But just now I heard that you had passed away
They said you had been ill for only a short while
I feel a sense of loss that I cannot explain
Because of the secret that I dared not share
I am guilty of remaining silent about my faith
And it’s too late now to show you that I care
How can I not give away the hope that I have
The free gift of salvation by way of The Cross
That Another, lovingly and unashamedly gave
Never hesitating to pay the ultimate cost
We passed each other by, as strangers along the way
“I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’”
Matthew 25:43-45 ESV
