And I will make you a great nation
And I will bless you and make your name great
Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham
From the line of Judah he will come
I will establish his kingdom
And he shall be to me a son
Conceived by a virgin, they shall call him “Immanuel”
He will die for their sins, rescuing them from hell
Bethlehem is the throne room of this newborn king
The Ruler and long-awaited Savior of whom angels sing
In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord
Make straight in the desert a highway for our God
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”
Proclaims John before baptizing the Son of Man
Behold the king riding on a beast of burden will lead you
And I will put my words in his mouth, all that is true
Woe to every soul that does not listen to this prophet
For he is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek
Praying “Let this cup pass from me but your will be done”
God’s love, mercy and grace displayed in his only son
But by the chief priests, the scribes and Pilate, he is condemned
All who see him mock him, saying “Let the Lord deliver him”
The star, the scepter rises out of Israel
And I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill
Encircled by evildoers, they pierced his hands and feet
Come near, touch these cruel nail marks and believe
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, he cries
From the Cross “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?”
Since he had already died, the soldiers did not break his bones
But those who crucified him cast lots for his princely robe
“He was pierced for our transgressions and with his wounds we are healed”
“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said”, an empty tomb revealed
Conquering sin’s curse forever, bruising the head of the serpent
Redeeming to himself all who believe, obey and humbly repent
Ascended on high, carried up into heaven to prepare a place for his very own
Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior
The Messiah!
The Promise Keeper of God
“My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise.”
Psalm 119:123 ESV
