Headline News by Ron Clark

Current headline news would have everyone believe that COVID-19 will decimate the population of planet earth. At this point in time, however, raw data does not support this claim, and data has come under close scrutiny since evidence has become public concerning the classification of deaths being due to COVID-19 without proper testing. The COVID-19 virus has been stated as the cause of death in some cases. Contrary to the obvious such as heart attacks, COPD, etc.

Many news outlets are criticizing the opening of business, with precautions. These same outlets cried foul when the stay at home orders were directed at citizens. Hypocrisy? Yes!

There is no doubt that COVID-19 rivals the severity of the flu, however, current reports cannot be factually compared since the flu is not a reportable infection in some states. What we know for sure is that COVID-19 does not compare to the flu in the number of cases or deaths at this time. Most of the COVID-19 numbers are projected stats. Therefore, why the panic?

Why The Panic?

Frankly, the news media and many politicians conspired to create this atmosphere in order to increase the public’s dependency upon government agencies for rescue. The end result was counterproductive since it showed all the flaws in the government’s ability to meet all of these needs. With our current administration played catchup extremely well considering that previous pandemics were virtually ignored. And China, the source of the virus, withheld information with the aid of the WHO.

This is a perfect example of playing politics with the health of the populace. Attaching other funding measures to a bill authorizing funds for the COVID-19 emergency is one such instance. Such bills should be stand-alone proposals ensuring that no obstruction can occur.

Speaking as a pharmacist with forty-two years of experience, there is no doubt in my mind that the entire COVID-19 panic is manufactured. The sole intent of destroying a presidency because impeachment did not work.

Disagree if you will, but it is a hard cold fact easily seen in the records being revealed as a result of the DOJ’s investigations.

Plague or Warning? by Ron Clark

Plague or Warning?

Riding out the Wuhan Corona Virus pandemic is somewhat like riding out a hurricane. In spite of the danger, it is BORING! Staying at home is the pits, however, it protects and others that might be exposed if we happen to be carriers of the disease. So be of good cheer, you are helping by your lack of activity.

There are a couple of thoughts I would like to share. The first of which is the lack of information about the recovery rate of infected persons. We’ve all seen the infection numbers and the numbers of deceased for Corona, but why aren’t we shown more information concerning the actual numbers of people who recover from the disease. Perhaps the news outlets don’t consider that number to be sensational enough. It reminds me of the “Yellow Dog Press” we learned about in our history classes in high school. That was a long time ago for me. Be that as it may, during the administration of Teddy Rosevelt the press only printed the sensational and outrageous stories that scared people. I believe we have returned to that time with our current media outlets.

Also, social media is posting a story about a Harvard professor, a specialist in bacteriology and virology, who was paid by the Chinese to set up a research lab in Wuhan. Reportedly, he was paid large amounts of money and had two Chinese nationals working as his lab assistants. I haven’t seen any of this from recognized news services so the story’s veracity is open to debate. I will say this, during forty-two years as a pharmacist I have seen a lot of adulterated and miracle cure drugs come from China. (Does anyone remember ‘black pearls’ during the late 1970s?) My opinion of Chinese products is highly suspicious, to say the least.

I believe one of the bleakest things I’ve seen is the hoarding by so many people. Jesus addressed this very thing:

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

That action is certainly being a lover of self. Does that mean we are in the last days? Well we are certainly approaching them at the very least.

God warned the Jews to return to Him by using plagues, corruption, and conquering armies to get their attention and I believe that is what He is doing to the entire earth. Wealth and fame haven’t helped protect any of us. Just look around at the number of rich and famous people that have been infected and some have died. Warnings like this fall upon the righteous and unrighteous alike. Being a believer in Jesus Christ will not keep me from being infected or possibly becoming a death statistic, but if so I know Jesus has me covered for my eternal future. “To live is Christ, to die is gain,” as the apostle Paul wrote.

Don’t get caught up in the conspiracy theories, turn back to the maker and creator of all things, Jesus Christ. And ask Him to take care of your here and now as well as your eternal future.

Romans 10:9-13 NIV

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and is justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I just don’t know how much more simple it can be said.

God Bless and Keep You All.

Coronavirus and Job by Michael Furlonger

One good thing about this isolation is that more people are attending church services than ever before, albeit online. And today I want to share how about my wife’s service from Sunday, which lead me to think of the coronavirus and Job.

Now, one of the things that I have commonly heard is that this virus is not from God. So many people are saying that, because we know about the background of viruses as well as other life affecting catastrophes, they aren’t from God.

Now, I’m not going to say this is or is not from God, but I will say that God is sovereign. Nothing happens without his knowing about it.

Blessed Be Your Name

We started the service by singing some songs and one of these songs is called “Blessed Be Your (God’s) Name”. Not just the Name of God, but the entire being of God, the characteristics of God.

The chorus, or bridge, of the song goes, “He gives and takes away. My heart will choose to say, ‘Blessed be Your name’.” I’ve heard pastors say that this song is about God giving good and taking bad away. But that’s not what it’s about.

First off, ‘Blessed be Your name,’ comes from a reference from the book of Job (pronounced Jobe). In the book of Job, this man of God loses everything aside from his wife. A wife, by the way, can’t even stand the smell of him, according to Job 19:17. To stay on topic, the song comes from Job 1;

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
    and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”
In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. (Job 1:20-22)

As you can see, Job is saying, may the name of the Lord still be praised despite circumstances. Now, in the song, one verse reads;

“Blessed be Your Name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there is pain in the offering
Blessed be Your Name”

Supernatural Catastrophy And Coronavirus

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”

Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The fire of God fell from the heavens and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and made off with them. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, “Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!” (Job 1:6-19)

Cause & Effect

As you just read, Job’s calamity didn’t come from a supernatural travesty. The supernatural God allowed a supernatural angel to cause damage to a natural man through natural means.

  • 1. Sabeans attacked and stole the livestock and killed the servants.
  • 2. Fire from heaven (arguably supernatural) fell and killed the sheep and servants.
  • 3. Chaldeans stole the camels and put servants to death.
  • 4. Wind swept in from a known position and knocked over Job’s children’s house, killing them.

The Lesson To Be Learned

A lot of churches teach on how God will bless them if they come to church and give a offering. Job’s story completely disagrees with that. And so much of scripture will disagree with the common prosperity message.

What we need to learn from this story is that God is God. He is our only Hope and our only source of Righteousness. To live absent of God’s righteousness is to live absent of God.

I can’t absolutely say, “The coronavirus is an absolute judgment from God.” What I can say, as Jesus said, “… When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Corona, David Brainerd And Amazon Prime

As this coronavirus has locked many people, including myself into social isolation, I have taken it to do a lot more writing than I normally do. So I want to talk about a few topics, hence the title of this post.

First thing that I want to share is that there is a holy God who has it within himself to do incredible things. With the uncertainty of this virus going around, my hopes and prayers are with many people, including doctors, nurses, the elderly, and loved ones stuck at home.

Since I’ve been spending my days working on the computer, I’ve seen plenty of Facebook posts. A lot of Christian Facebook posts claiming healing in Jesus’ name. And that is great. To God be all the glory. Although it is my desire for everyone to get well, my prayer is that God would make himself known in this time. Because whether it’s this or something else, we will face death at some point.

David Brainerd

Now, who is David Brainerd? I’ve heard his name a lot, but didn’t know much about him. Until I found a video on Amazon Prime about him. He was a missionary in the 1700s to the Delaware Indian community in New Jersey. I purchased the diary of David Brainerd as I’ve heard of this man’s approach to prayer. And wanted to share it with you.

I started reading it yesterday and was amazed by his conversion story. He was so tormented by the idea of relying fully on the mercy of a holy God. I was reading it an it was like my own conversion story.

For now, I want to share why I connected Brainerd to the coronavirus. David Brainerd died at the age of 29. He spent 8+ years preaching the message to the Native people and he died. We are sharing Bible verses to avoid illness and believing that we will be protected by it. David Brainerd spent his days preaching and praying and he was not spared the illness which lead to his death.

Now, I know that this may seem like I’m unbiblical or lacking faith, but I can’t help but wonder what God thinks about it. The other day I wrote a post about people using a verse and claiming it for themselves with no regard for the original person to whom it’s written. We love preachers that say, “If there’s a Goliath in front of you, God must believe that there is a David inside of you.” Completely abandoning the reality that David fought Goliath because Goliath was blaspheming the God of Israel.

(My Best Friend’s Wife Wrote Me A Love Letter)

Anyway… I simply wanted to share that God loves you. No matter what happens with this virus or another one of hundreds of things that can potentially kill you, God’s love is supreme.
