Blogging Basics
Different blogging platforms may have different arrangements for posts. However, this section will share with you a number of easy to follow pieces of advice.
- Post Title– When you are writing your post, consider rewriting the Title in the first section in a Paragraph block. This will help with your SEO Analysis later (Adding Image will also help with SEO Analysis).
- Author– While this should be done automatically, be sure to confirm that you are the listed author of the post. It will be at the right hand side of the screen.

- Image Placement– Adding an image to your content is important. Often times, we don’t see the importance of adding an image, but this will help with your SEO Analysis. On the right side of your screen, you will see a Featured Image section.

- Tags– Tags are what people will use to find identical content. If you are writing about the Bible, you should tag your post as such. On CWB, we use the author’s name to be sure that the post gets listed on their Author’s Page under the My Recent Blogs. So be sure to add your name in the tags.
- Headings 2, 3 & 4– There are two main features required for blogs- Paragraph and Headings. We will discuss when to use Headings in Step 2, but I want to give an opening. When you begin a post, it will automatically start you in Paragraph type. When you choose to put in a Heading, DO NOT use Heading 1. It is a larger font, but it may cause problems with your post.
If needed, you can use the custom Size on the right side of your page to set a custom font size. - Sentence 20– To prevent run-on sentences, WordPress will track your sentence count. If you use the Readability link to the right
, it will help you with Sentence Length, as well as Subheading distribution, Consecutive Sentences, Paragraph Length, and much more.
- Paragraph– When you are writing a paragraph, try to keep your paragraph under 150 words. You will be warned of this under the Readability Analysis link mentioned above.
- Chapter 300– Chapter 300 is a reference to the 300 words required between subheadings. This will affect your Readability rating, so try to find an opportune place to post a new subheading. Remember not to use Heading 1.
