I’ve lived long enough to witness a tragic procession of shootings and assassinations—some driven by hatred, others by madness. Of them all, only one stands out as truly senseless: Charles Whitman, the University of Texas shooter, whose actions were later attributed to a brain tumor. The rest—John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump—were targeted because of what they represented. Hatred was the motive. Now, another name joins that sorrowful list. Charlie Kirk—a young man known for his respect toward others and unwavering commitment to American ideals—was murdered at a peaceful public gathering. His crime? Articulating conservative Christian values with such clarity and conviction that they became difficult to refute. I’ve watched countless videos of Charlie Kirk engaging with critics. Time and again, he dismantled emotional tirades with calm, factual reasoning. His opponents often found themselves speechless—not because they were silenced, but because their own words had unraveled under the weight of truth. This tragedy is not a call for fewer guns—it’s a cry for more Jesus. The absence of a firearm would not have saved Charlie. A person bent on destruction will find a weapon, be it a knife, a rock, or a club. What we lack is not legislation, but transformation. Only the love of Christ and His redeeming grace can teach us to truly love our neighbors, even when we disagree.

In the dimly lit archives of an ancient library and crypt under Roslyn Chapel ruins, Dr. Elena Godfrey gazed down at an ancient scroll, her breath fogging the cold air. The only light from her lantern cast flickering shadows over the carved stone coffins. She brushed centuries of dust from the parchment and felt her pulse quicken. Etched in the faded velum was the definitive emblem of the Knights Templar, the crimson cross pat’ee. This wasn’t another burial record or Crusader relic, she realized. This was different, older, perhaps even dangerous. Someone had intentionally hidden these records. “This parchment is no ordinary record of Templar history. It’s as if it whispers secrets of the Templars that have been hidden for centuries,” she thought. She reached for her notebook, translating aloud as her eyes adjusted to the archaic script. “Verily, the enmity betwixt the twain factions hath surpassed reconciliation... Thorne Ravenscroft, that staunch dissenter, commands forces that outnumber ours twofold…” Elena froze. Thorne Ravenscroft? She’d never seen that name in any Templar registry. “They have delved into arcane rites and impious ceremonies... The Almighty would smite us for such sacrilege.” A shiver crawled up her spine. This was no ordinary schism. It described a split—a Templar civil war. One side stayed true to their Christian oath. The other, led by Ravenscroft, embraced something else—something dark. “I know someone’s down there,” a voice said from above. She startled, clutching the scroll. The only person who knew she was here was Caitriona MacIntyre—Lady of Dunraig and her closest friend. But the voice wasn’t Cat’s. Elena extinguished the lantern, ears straining in the silence. A moment later, she heard an explosion and turned to watch a dust cloud above the walls of the Roslyn Chapel. “Just in time,” she thought. Elena leaped behind the wheel, inserted her key, and peeled away. “Why do I always get into these situations?” In her rearview mirror, the cloud of smoke rose higher from the ruins of the chapel. The wind screamed past her open window as the Jeep tore across the fields toward the estate. Just five more miles. She flicked a glance at the mirror. Headlights. Her breath caught. They were following. “Just one more mile,” she whispered, as if saying it could make it true. Elena swerved into the muddy track that cut across Cat’s property. Her Jeep fought for traction, sliding, digging, grinding forward. Behind her, the headlights skidded sideways into the muck, stuck. She didn’t look back again. At the manor steps, Elena slammed the Jeep to a halt and bolted for the door, backpack clutched to her chest. She pounded on the heavy oak. The door opened to reveal Grafton Harland, Caitriona’s chief of security. Love Isn’t Easy Some time back, I wrote about “Love” and its application as a work of faith. As with all musings, it’s easier said than done in our daily lives. People, in general, are often unpleasant or even mean. So, how do we respond? Perhaps you recall Principal 8, “Yield ourselves to God and bring the “Good News” to others.” That sounds good in principle, but how do we do that? Do we share the plan of salvation with every person we meet? Do we “take their inventory of bad behavior” and share our observations with them? As if that will work. Please remember, the way you live your life may be the only Bible lesson a person will ever see or hear. With that in mind, reacting to any circumstance with kindness and courtesy is an absolute must. Not only will it have an impact on the people around you, but it will help shape you as well. In the past twenty years, pundits ask in their columns, “Why is this happening?” The proposed answers to this question include having too many guns (any at all), lack of education, left-wing subversives, right-wing radicals, or not enough Jesus. I suggest we look in the Bible for the answer, specifically, Matthew 22:37 when Jesus calls us to, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He doesn’t mean just our next-door neighbors, but the rest of the world as well. Loving your neighbor will not solve all of our social discord, but you will be surprised that there are “neighbors” in this world who will respond to kindness. Sadly, prophecy teaches us that society will break down and those of us who choose to follow Jesus will be persecuted. Jesus never said otherwise. In Matthew 10:18, Jesus said, “On my account, you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and the Gentiles.” Your behavior is your most important witness to the world. Not everyone will be positively impacted by your humble behavior. However, if you reach only one person then the effort is well worth the price. Ultimately, people will change because of you and their lives will be changed for the better. The following acrostic and scripture are worth remembering: L—love God first O—open up to healthy relationships V—verify your love through works E—embrace service Luke 8:16-19 tells us, “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. Therefore, consider carefully how you listen.” How you live shows what you believe, you can’t hide it. Let your life show your love and your faith in Jesus.

“God said to Moses, ‘I am who I am’” (Exodus 3:14). The topic tonight is Grace and Grace is such a fundamental part of God’s nature that if you don’t understand Grace you can’t fully understand God. Grace is why God sacrificed His son on the cross to give us the gift of salvation. Grace is a gift that God wants to give us any time or any place. The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.’ So I am happy to brag about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can live in me. For this reason I am happy when I have weaknesses, insults, hard times, sufferings, and all kinds of troubles for Christ. Because when I am weak, then I am truly strong.” G God’s gift. R Received by our faith A Accepted by God’s love. C Christ paid the price. E Everlasting gift. Grace is God’s gift. We cannot purchase God’s grace. It is freely given by God to you and me. Do you feel that you are not in a place that you can accept forgiveness as a free gift? Listen to Romans 3:24, “All need to be made right with God by His grace, which is a free gift. They need to be made free from sin through Jesus Christ.” So everybody needs to be made right through Christ Jesus. Now look at I Peter 1:13. “Prepare your minds for service and have self-control. All your hope should be for the gift of grace that will be yours when Jesus Christ is shown to you.” Keep working, reading and praying. It will happen for you. The Holy Spirit wants to live within you. Grace is RECEIVED by our faith in Jesus. I talk about doing the work, but please know that none of this work is done to earn God’s grace. The work is reading and learning and praying. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” If anyone tells you that all it takes to be saved is to live a good life, just remember Philippians 3:9, “No longer counting on being saved by being good enough or by obeying God’s law, but by trusting Christ to save me; for God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith—counting on Christ alone.” God wants to know if we have accepted Jesus as our savior. Accept Jesus as your savior, and then be sure that your walk matches your talk. The letter A tells us that we are ACCEPTED by God’s love. God loved you and me while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Ephesians 2:5, “Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we did against God, he gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God’s grace.” We also receive a pass which allows us to enter God’s throne room any time we desire. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.” This is an everlasting gift according to Romans 8:38-39. It says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” CHRIST paid the price that we could never pay. He took on the sins of the entire world, for all of history. On the cross, Jesus said, “It is done.” So it is. Amen!

In recent months, the news media has exhibited two obsessions. Convict Donald Trump of something, anything, so he can't be president again and don't let the Bidens or the Clintons be investigated for anything. Even though it's a fact that Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Mike Pence were proven to have "Classified Documents" in their possession, the DOJ will never prosecute them. The amazing development in this is how many people refuse to equate these acts as being in any way similar, and, therefore, only Donald Trump should be prosecuted. One must ask, "Are they blind?" Absolutely! They are blinded by Satan, not just to persecute Donald Trump, but the sew seeds of disharmony withing the nation and create hatred between the two major political forces that form our government. There are accusations of weaponizing government agencies, i.e. the FBI, CIA, IRS, DOJ, DOE, and even the DOD to intimidate and persecute conservative groups and individuals. The evidence for these accusations are self-evident, yet our major news networks deny, obfuscate, and ignore all of the evidence that is right in front of them. Consider the fact that the "Russian Collusion" dossier was proven to be false as well as campaign misinformation, and a concerted effort was made to get the signatures of fifty intelligence officers claiming the the Hunter Biden laptop was typical Russian misinformation. Again, the laptop has been verified as legitimate. Take heart, we are not fighting forces of man, but forces of the dark, that is Satan. God wins in the end. As I've said before, choose wisely. Your eternal future may well depend upon that choice.
